DESCRIPTION
The Compliance Lunch Debate, titled « Greenwashing, Governance & Product Oversight: From Corporate Statements to Advertising – How to Align ESG Ambitions with Regulatory Expectations », will address how greenwashing is becoming a compliance matter in its own right.
More than just interpreting the expectations of legislators and regulators, it also involves risk management, governance, corporate accountability, and reputational challenges.
As regulatory scrutiny intensifies on how financial institutions communicate their ESG ambitions, this session will explore why and how greenwashing is becoming a compliance core responsibility. We will look at the core characteristics of greenwashing, the evolving definitions, and the main attention points from key regulators such as FPS Economy, ESMA, EIOPA, and EBA. Through illustrative cases in banking, insurance, and investment services, we will analyze what happens when “green” doesn’t mean sustainable — and how such discrepancies may lead to criminal liability or administrative sanctions.
Join us on Thursday, 19 June, in Brussels or online, to enhance your daily work and decision-making processes and connect with peers and colleagues.
Participation at the Compliance Lunch Debates on 19 June is worth 1,5 points for the continuing education of Compliance Officers.
